I frequently get asked about which human foods are safe to give their dogs. Below is a list of foods that you CAN give your dog, and foods you should NEVER give your dog.
The number one food I get asked about is Peanut Butter. Yes, you can give a dog peanut butter, as long as it does not contain xylitol. Xylitol is a sweetener used in many human foods like chewing gum, but it’s toxic if ingested by dogs. Keep in mind that the following list of “yes” foods should always be given in moderation and can be used as a treat every now and then.
Many of the “yes” foods can be used to stuff a Kong. You can stuff and freeze the Kong the night before and it will keep your dog occupied for quite a while. Frozen Kongs are great for teething puppies.
Always remember to check with your veterinarian before introducing a new “people food” to your dog.
